Thyroid Update
I have been on T3 only since May 1st.(RAI done 10/08. I added iron, B12, and Vit.D. I stopped my water pill, synthroid, and wellbutrin.
I am really feeling like a different person, unbelieveable the difference! Blood pressure is 110/74! I always had high blood pressure!
The Dr. had me on the synthroid and cytomel, and the other prescriptions, so I was quite nervous to go and tell them what I have been up to and that I stopped all my prescriptions.
Well, they didn't recieve my blood work results, but I confessed everything, told them I will not take synthroid ever again, and if I need to add T4, I wanted to go on NDT. She said to me that when they get the results, we will see where to go from there.
Tonight the nurse from the office called, and told me my results are in perfect range!!! I was so excited! Then she told me she was hypothyroid and on synthroid and didn't feel well herself. So I explained everything I have learned and what I was doing. Maybe this will help the whole practice to see things differently.

Spent the entire day organizing my scrapbook supplies! After that I got 4 pages done. It felt so good to sit and relax and get something done. I love the Silouette cutter, you can download designs as you are putting together a page! Most of them are 99 cents, can't beat that!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

Reverse T3 Yahoo group
I joined this group on Yahoo and have to say they have been a godsend in my journey with thyroid disease.
If you have any questions, this is the group that can help.
I can't believe how much better I am feeling since following advice on this group and I am only into the changes of meds. since May 1!

More thyroid news
I just started an experiment with my meds. I have been reading and reading and researching the issues with being hypothyroid. I have come up with the notion that I am getting too much of the RT3 hormone by taking Synthroid and my body isn't converting well to T3. So I have been taking Cytomel, which is just T3 for two weeks now and I am really feeling a difference. You are suppose to do this for about 8 weeks to clear out the Reverse T3, then go back to the regular meds. we will see, but I can say my body temp. has gone up to normal, it has been running about 97.1. That alone is an indication that my metabolism is slow and not getting enough of the right hormones that it needs.

Baby Chicks..
We put 22 Araucauna chicken eggs in an incubator exactly 22 days ago. This morning when I looked in, we had 2 new baby chicks! It is now almost 11 PM and we are up to 7 new babies. This is the first time we have tried to incubate eggs. The chicks are adorable. I have been turning the eggs three times a day and kept the temperature and humidity levels up. So exciting! I will try to post pics. tomorrow.
Good night all...

thyroid issues.....still
Just heard from my Doc. today, have to lower my meds. again, Synthroid. I did add Cytomel a month ago, and I think this might be helping.
I am learning so much about Graves Disease and the many factors that go into treating it properly. Your Adrenal Glands are affected by thyroid disease too, so in order to get the best out of your medicine for your thyroid, you need to have your adrenal glands working. These glands are affected by stress, and can become fatigued.
Well, I will give the new dosage a month and see how that goes, I am also taking iron, Vitamin D and B vitamins.
I am reading everything I can about natural thyroid Hormones, I might go that route if I am not feeling better. A lot of information out there on the web though! I just bought the book, "Stop The Thyroid Madness." I do recommend this to anyone who is trying to live well with Thyroid issues. Also all of Mary Shomon's books are excellent.

Hey it's been awhile since I have posted. Had an appointment with my Endocrinologist and had my meds changed. I have found having Hypothyroidism from RAI treatment for Graves is not that easy to regulate and that as a patient you really need to do a lot of research on your own and bring it with you to your Dr. and explain how you want to be treated. I have added cytomel which is T3 hormone. My body needs it because I can't convert enough T4 to T3. I have been on just T4 for about a year now and haven't felt better. I have been on the T3 for 2 weeks now and am beginning to feel somewhat normal, whatever that is.LOL.
I have found many great sites on thyroid treatment, very informative. If you have questions, send me an email or respond to the post, I really have learned a lot about thyroid problems and can help you to find the answers you need.
Have a great night!!

Scrap-a-thons
Haven't been on here in awhile, busy, busy, busy!
I just got back from a Cancer Scrap-a-thon fundraiser. What a great way to raise money and awareness.
For the past five years, my sister has been hosting a Multiple Sclerosis Scrap-a-thon, always in the month of March. This year it is the weekend of the 14th. My Mom passed away at 60 from MS. What a horrible disease. We tried everything to help her. She had the progressive type, which slowly stripped her of everything. To this day, I have NEVER met another person that is even close to being as strong, faithful, cheerful, and have such a positive outlook as my Mom. What a role model I was blessed with. So many lessons I have learned from her.
Well, gotta go for now, have a great night everyone!
